IOHS continues to monitor recommendations for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in an effort to support the health of our student population.  The situation regarding COVID-19 is evolving and rapidly changing as more is learned regarding transmission and patient outcomes.

There have been many questions regarding COVID-19, exposure to the virus and student attendance at clinical rotations.

IOHS is supporting what is being dictated by the individual hospitals/clinical sites.   If the hospital/clinical site is allowing you to continue your rotations, then it is up to the individual student.

1.  Students should follow the individual state/clinical site recommendations.  If your specific hospital cancels clinical rotations or if you are not comfortable with attending clinical rotations, notify your clinical practicum instructor and program director.   Be sure to document this information on your weekly time sheet.

2.  Any student with a respiratory illness or fever should not report to clinical and seek out medical care as necessary.  If sick, a student should not return to clinical rotation until symptoms resolve or they are without fever for 24 hours and have been medically cleared.

IOHS is a clock hour program so absences (Excused or Unexcused) must be clearly documented, with 100% of hours completed prior to program completion.
