    To: IOHS Faculty and Students

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic - the recent President's executive order required most health-care facilities that accept Medicare or Medicaid funding to document and vaccinate their employees. This order includes all hospital settings and includes the Institute of Health Sciences staff and specifically students that attend an internship site.

    Process

Effective October 1, 2021, all employees, and students of IOHS are mandated to have COVID 19 vaccination documented within their personnel files. Students who have opted out of vaccination based on religious or (other reasons) will be required to have Bi-weekly testing for the virus and submitting that test result to the school. In addition, students who have not been vaccinated but granted an exemption will be responsible for following the hospital policy on unvaccinated personnel in their work environment. (Please check with the Department Supervisor). Testing results must be sent directly to the IOHS administrative office on a bi-weekly basis to document your testing and to maintain your internship rotation.

    Notice

If experiencing typical COVID-19 symptoms or believing you have been exposed, exempted students must not go on-site until they have been tested. If positive, exempted workers must be out for at least ten days from onset of symptoms AND 24 hours fever-free.

    Policy COVID-19

We will be reviewing all student records to determine if we are missing any information within your personnel records. As of October 1st, 2021, all students will be removed from their clinical rotation until they have provided proof of a negative test or documentation of CO-VID vaccination. This suspension of clinical hours will have to be made up as part of their clinical rotation.

For any questions on this policy please contact my office at 410-891-2514.
